US President Donald Trump has said he hopes that a Bill which would give Ireland an extra 5,000 visa’s will be passed in the US Senate.

Speaking during his two day visit to Ireland, President Trump said that he and the US Government were working on extending the allocation for E3 visas to Ireland.

During discussions with the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, the US President said that the Bill was close the last time and he has spoken to one Senator in particular about the Bill.

The president said he remains hopeful that he can convince the sitting Senator and those who opposed the Bill, in order to do what’s best for America and Ireland.

It is understood the Bill which failed to get through the US Senate last year, would see 5,000 unused Australian visas being given to Ireland.
