The Former Lord Mayor of Dublin Christy Burke, is reportedly considering the prospect of running in the next Presidential election.
According to RTÉ News, Mr Burke who was elected Lord Mayor of Dublin back in 2014, has given serious thought to contesting the next presidential election.
Mr Burke who has vowed to tackle the homeless crisis if elected, officially declared his interest in the a Facebook Post that has already gained overwhelming support.
The former mayor will however face stiff competition for the position as current President Michael D Higgins has declared his intentions to run for another term in office.
Meanwhile other candidates including entrepreneur Sean Gallagher are expected to throw their hat into the ring.
