Prices across the entire range of SuperValu and Centra own-label Irish butter products have been lowered in stores nationwide.
Musgrave, the owner of SuperValu and Centra, said the 15% reduction will result in savings of up to €0.60 per pack on its own-brand Irish creamery butter range, covering both salted and unsalted varieties in 227g and 454g sizes, reports RTE.
As a result, all 454g own-brand butter products at SuperValu and Centra will fall from €3.99 to €3.39, while 227g own-brand butter products will drop from €2.39 to €2.09.
The revised prices came into force yesterday, reports RTE.

ALDI said the cost of its Kilkeely Pure Irish Creamery Butter 454g will be reduced from €3.99 to €3.39, while the 227g pack will fall from €2.39 to €2.09
The retailer said it will keep monitoring the market on a daily basis to ensure it continues to offer the best value on price, reports RTE.
Niall O’Connor, Country Managing Director at ALDI Ireland, said the retailer has been lowering prices on hundreds of products across its range in recent months as it continues to meet its commitment to customers.
“This reduction in butter price is the latest in our ongoing dedication to price cuts on household essentials. Our aim is to always have a discount versus the more expensive full price supermarkets and to keep our prices as low as possible, and our continual focus on the market means we can and will respond quickly,” Mr O’Connor added, reports RTE.
