Primary school teachers poised for industrial action in the near future

Primary school teachers have reportedly voted overwhelmingly in favor of industrial action.

The row centers around a long-standing ban ban on promotions, and increased workloads.

The Irish National Teacher’s Organization (INTO) is seeking an end to an eight-year long ban on promotions in primary schools, as well as the re-instatement of promoted posts which have been lost since 2008.

It is understood that a directive of non-cooperation will be issued to teachers across the country in coming days.
