Prince Harry has provoked fury after threatening legal action against the government in the UK.
According to the Daily Mail, the situation has arisen due to the Duke of Sussex’s demand for a police protection team when he is back in the UK. The Home Secretary Priti Patel decided to strip him of the team but he claims that it is too dangerous for his family to visit the UK with adequate protection.
Any legal action taken against the UK government would be taken against Her Majesty’s Government which would leave Harry in the strange position of suing his own grandmother’s Government.
It is claimed that Harry has offered to cover the cost of the additional security from Scotland Yard but experts have explained that Scotland Yard doesn’t have specially trained bodyguards who can be hired in the way Harry has suggested.
If Harry was to visit the Queen with his family, or if they opted to stay at one of the royal residences then they would automatically be given protection by royal security. This row has erupted over the fact that this protection would not be available if they were to attend other events in the UK, including social events or business meetings.
Harry is currently living in the US with his wife Meghan and their children Archie and Lilibet.
