The Aras Attracta care home scandal brought about widespread condemnation, after secret filming at the facility brought to light the routine abuse that residents were subjected to by members of staff.
Today, Patrick McLoughlin, a clinical nurse manager with an address at Lalilbella, Mayfield, Claremorris, was handed down a four month prison sentence for assaulting one of the residents. Mr. McLoughlin must also pay €1,000 into that resident’s personal account.
Mr. McLoughlin had been accused of sitting on the lap of an intellectually disabled woman.
Three other members of staff accused of assault will be sentenced to community service.
