A pro-invasion Russian blogger has reportedly been blown up by an explosive device concealed inside a gift statuette.
The incident happened at the Street Food Bar No. 1 cafe in St. Petersburg, Vladimir Putin’s hometown, earlier today. Notably, the cafe once belonged to Wagner mercenary group founder Yevgeny Prigozhin.
The victim, 40-year-old Maxim Fomin, died when a device concealed inside the statuette he was holding exploded, reportedly as he was thanking the audience for giving it to him. Mr. Fomin was a staunch supporter of the invasion of Ukraine with over 500,000 followers on Telegram.
Local authorities suspect that factions opposing the invasion of Ukraine are behind the incident.
