Carlos Arturo Aparicio Hernandez, a prominent trans-activist whose alleged story of gender identity discrimination was promoted and featured by the New York Times has been charged with multiple sex crimes against teenage boy.

The 36-year-old has been charged with the aggravated sexual extortion and six counts of forcible sodomy as first-degree felonies, and three counts of forcible sexual abuse, enticing a minor, and five counts of sexual exploitation of minor as second-degree felonies feminist website Redux reports.

It is believed that Hernandez, a biological man who pretends to be a woman, groomed his 15-year-old victim via Facebook after befriending the boy by pretending to a real girl of the same age.

The boy sent photos of himself as requested by Hernandez via Facebook.

The trans predator then asked meet the victim, inviting him to a home in Taylorsville, Utah where he then blackmailed the boy and sexually assaulted him.

The LGBTQIA+ activist filmed the assault and also showed his victim pictures of “very young girls” whom he claimed to have also abused, courts records show.

According to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Department, Hernandez was booked as a female under his legal name, but provided an alias of Raiza Daniela Aparicio Hernandez. He was also recorded as being a citizen of El Salvador and admitted to officers he was attracted to young children.

Hernandez had previously been hailed as a hero by the LGBTQIA+ community and major corporate media outlets including the New York Times who in an article on the obstacles faced by LGBTQ migrants described the pedophile as “transgender human rights activist”.

Both the LGBTQIA+ community and Hernadez’s supporters in the media have been silent since his arrest.
