Management at Ireland’s largest hospital has angered staff after a unilateral move to introduce a yearly €500 charge for staff parking at the site.
As a result, Siptu will now ballot its members about the possibility of industrial action.
According to management, the new complex for the national children’s hospital would result in significantly decreased numbers of available parking spaces for staff. A new €500 a year charge would be introduced so that staff could park at the site and at nearby St. James St.
Howeve, Siptu representatives have deemed the move “unnaceptable”, and the union will ballot its members for industrial action in the near future.
