Public Health Agency confirms patient with coronavirus in Belfast travelled from Italy through Dublin airport

The first case of coronavirus in Ireland was confirmed on Thursday evening after the COVID-19 virus landed on the island of Ireland after being detected in Northern Ireland.

The Northern Ireland Public Health Agency confirmed that at at least one case of the coronavirus has been detected in Northern Ireland today with health experts working to contain the outbreak.

It’s now known that the patient is an adult and that they travelled back from Northern Italy to Ireland and landed in Dublin airport.

Disgracefully, no further details have been released on whether the person took public transport, who they were in contact with or what shops, toilets or pubs they used in Dublin airport.

People are advised to cover their mouths when coughing, use a tissue when sneezing, not shake hands, and ring their GP if their suspect they have flu symptoms.

They’re advised NOT to go to a GP clinic and to self-isolate and to ring from their home.
