Publicans won’t be able to pay their mortgage and banks won’t help, claims Pub owners

As each week rolls on, it’s becoming increasingly likely that pubs will not reopen at all in 2020. Nothing is certain at this point but pub owners are claiming that publicans will not have money for mortgage repayments and that banks aren’t willing to help.

As more and more people start to drink at home or purposely go out for a special occasion and have a meal and couple of drinks, the remaining wet pubs are demanding that they be allowed to reopen.

Vintners and pub operators are warning of a ‘doomsday scenario,’ as up to two-thirds of pubs might close for good by Christmas unless they’re allowed to reopen soon.

Most pubs have now been closed for nearly six months, which has led to a dire financial situation.

And there’s no clear indication yet as to when pubs might be able to reopen as Covid-19 is decidedly getting worse in Ireland with every passing day.
