Puerto Rico dam at risk of collapsing -upwards of 70,000 people evacuated




Guajataca Dam in northern Puerto Rico is in danger of collapsing in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria.

The dam has developed a crack, and engineers are certain the structure is about to give way.

The imminent danger has sparked the evacuation of over 70,000 people in the surrounding areas.

Puerto Rico’s civil infrastructure has sustained heavy damage in the wake of Hurricane Maria, and residents have been warned that it may take weeks, or even months, to fully restore power.
