This is one of those stories bound to tug at the strings of those with weaker hearts.
Recently, Gardai rescued 14 adorable puppies that were being transported in an unsafe manner on a vehicle that was stopped on Promenade Road in Dublin.
The animals were found inside two metal containers, without access to water or fresh air.
A man in his 20s was driving the vehicle. No valid documentation for the puppies was furnished, so Gardai seized the cargo and later handed the puppies over to the DSPCA. A court summons for animal cruelty is likely to arise from this matter.
The animals, of various breeds, were estimated to be worth around €17,000. They were found in a healthy state, but they will be monitored for a few days just in case.
After that, they will be ready to be re-homed in a loving environment.
