Putin offers citizenship to people willing to fight for Russia against Ukraine

On Thursday, Vladimir Putin signed an order granting Russian citizenship to foreign nationals who defend Russia in Ukraine, as well as to their families, reports Breaking News.

According to the directive, individuals who entered into agreements during what Moscow refers to as its “special military operation” in Ukraine are eligible to apply for Russian passports for themselves, their partners, their kids, and their parents, reports Breaking News.

Documentation proving they committed for a minimum of a year must be provided.

Those who have contracted with the regular armed forces or other “military formations” are among those who qualify; this category may include organisations like the Wagner mercenary organisation, reports Breaking News.

The move seemed to be intended to provide more motivation for foreign veterans of the armed forces to apply to join the Russian military.
