Questions remain unanswered as to why mother fleeing domestic violence was abandoned by TUSLA and sent to homeless hub where son was allegedly molested by Romanian

The boy was staying in the North Dublin homeless shelter with his mother and older brother after they fled their home seeking refuge from domestic violence when the infant was beckoned by a Romanian man and woman believed to be in their 40s who then removed his trousers and molested him.

However, Dublin City Council and TUSLA have so far not commented publicly as to why the mother was sent to with her children to such an unsuitable living facility.

Speaking to the Irish Sunday Mirror the boy’s mother said:

“There’s a little garden and benches outside and this couple, a man and a woman in their 40s, called him over. They pulled down his pants and were molesting him on his private parts. I called him and he shot straight over to me and told me everything that had happened.”

The 29-year-old mother went to explain how Tusla have abandoned the young family and stating in relation to the decision to place her and her children in the Dublin 9 homeless shelter said:

“I don’t know why we were moved to a homeless hub in the north city. We are not homeless; we are fleeing domestic violence.”

Gardai questioned the Romanian man, but he was released with charge and a file has been prepared for the DPP.
