The singer R Kelly has submitted filing to a court in Chicago, asking permission for him to travel to Dubai.

According to reports in the US, the filing was made as the singer is facing aggravated sexual abuse charges on three underage girls.

The singer who has claimed that he is unable to generate income in order to pay child support, submitted the application this week.

It is understood that Kelly is seeking permission to travel United Arab Emirates, so that he can perform up to five concerts and meet the Royal Family.

Legal representatives of Kelly, have said the singer is unable to earn money in the US as his record deal has been terminated.

They also say that all concerts he was scheduled to perform at – in the state of Illinois have been cancelled by promoters.

It is believed that the filing has requested that Kelly be allowed to alter the terms of his bond which prohibits him from travelling out of the state.

However although the filing states that the UAE would never jeopardise its relationship with the US by harbouring a fugitive, Kelly’s appeal could be denied on the grounds that the US Government currently has no official extradition treaty with the UAE.

It is reported that made the agreement to perform in the UAE before he was officially charged.
