Ray D’Arcy has been absolutely slammed on social media for not talking to a concerned Irish taxpayer over his taxpayer funded salary and alleged “ashamed to be Irish” radio comments.
Social media users have claimed that D’Arcy should have stood his ground and spoken to the woman who helps pay his salary. One user said that D’Arcy should have had the decency to at least hear her out and respond to her legitimate questions rather than just brush her aside and hide in the RTE stand.
A concerned Irish citizen managed to get a quick word with Ray D’Arcy at the ploughing championships on Tuesday.
A lady was recorded calling Ray D’Arcy out on comments he allegedly made on the radio claiming that he was ashamed to be Irish. It’s hard to tell from the video, but it appears that D’Arcy tried to joke it off by saying that he said he was “embarrassed” (to be Irish), again it’s hard to tell as he is somewhat muffled.
The lady continued and demanded to know why he thinks the Irish taxpayer should help foot his enormous salary of €450,000, a breakdown of roughly €9,000 a day.
A very red-faced D’Arcy made a bee-line for base to where his RTE safe haven was. D’Arcy refused to answer the lady and just asked what her name is, to which she told him and continued to ask him questions but he appears to run off into the back of the RTE stand.
