A horse bought for €566,000 died in an accident this week while being transported to a farm in Co Kildare.
Colt Harry Angel was bought by Kildare trainer Michael O’Callaghan for £500,000 at the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale on Tuesday, reports The Mirror.
The two-year-old is out of Go Angellica, a sister to Lucky Liz, an O’Callaghan-trained dam of Twilight Jet, who has two Group 3 wins.
The horse was sold by top seller Tally-Ho Stud after picking him up at the November 2021 Goffs Foal Sale for €38,000.
Speaking to the Racing Post after the purchase, O’Callaghan said the horse was “by a long way” and admitted “if there’s one from the sale I didn’t want to leave without, it was him”, reports The Mirror.
He added: “We had to pay more than we thought we’d have to but when you think one is the real deal you have to pull it out. He needs to win a Group 1 now! This is a horse who may potentially be traded down the line but he has to go and do it now. If he reaches a high level by the middle of the summer, then who know?,” reports The Mirror.
