Paul Murphy, TD, confirmed today that reducing water pressure was never really a feasible option, despite erstwhile words to that effect spoken to former Minister for the Environment Phil Hogan.

Mr. Murphy said that they ‘simply wouldn’t be able to do it’, and that the resistance faced by those tasked to carry out such unsavory job would be too determined.

Environment Minister Alan Kelly yesterday confirmed that water pressure for those who fail to pay their water bill will not be reduced.

The conflict between the people and Irish Water/water charges rages on.

Earlier in the week, a High Court injunction was granted to GMC Sierra to set up a 20-metre exclusion zone around water meter installation sites. Today, GMC was forced to halt all work due to violent protests taken place around the Dublin area.
