Refugees may soon be housed in ‘floatels’ off the Cork coast, as Cork Port authorities have reportedly begun talks with the Government on the matter.
The idea of ‘floatels’, essentially gigantic barges holding container-like accommodation for people, was attempted in other countries, but the idea was discontinued.
The Irish Government is now desperate to find just about anywhere to stuff people in, so the idea of literally shipping thousands of refugees offshore must be quite appealing.
