The head of the HSE, Paul Reid has said that the entire health system around the country is now under immense pressure due to the fourth wave of the pandemic.
Reid said that high demand of for testing is leading to delays but that some 210,000 tests were carried out in the past week.
He said that ICU beds are reaching capacity levels and urged people to get a booster shot after they’ve been double jabbed.
It’s understood that Leo Varadkar in particular is said to be very worried with case numbers and told his Fine Gael parliamentary party colleagues late on Wednesday night.
