Report claims that up to half the number of restaurants in Ireland will close without Government help

The restaurant industry is pleading for help from the government after the coronavirus outbreak.

A new report published today is claiming that up to 50% of restaurants in Ireland might close unless Government steps in to help.

The report, prepared by Jim Power Economics, remarks upon the fact that Covid-19 has inflicted serious damage to the economy, and that measures such as social distancing will make trading in the hospitality sector very difficult.

The report says that the sector ‘will struggle to survive‘ unless the Government implements a grant aid package.
