Sub-aqua units attached to the Gardai have today resumed the search for Ciaran Smith and Paul Ormsby, winch operators from Rescue 116.
The search mission had to be called off during the weekend due to adverse weather conditions. Calmer weather allowed the search to resume today.
Rescue 116 crashed into Blackrock Island, just off the Mayo coast, back in March.
It emerged shortly after the accident that a pilot conducting test flights on Rescue 116 had flagged that Blackrock Island was actually missing from the terrain avoidance system onboard the craft.
The software was never updated, with fatal consequences.
