Restaurants and Gastro Pubs to reopen – Wet pubs closed with limited travel until December 18th

It’s beginning to look a lot like… well, Christmas 2020 anyway.

It’ll be different, that much we know, but maybe not as different as we’d thought over the past couple of days. The government is set to announce the rules and regulations regarding the unlifting of Level 5 lockdown which will commence on Tuesday.

The Taoiseach Micheal Martin, Tanaiste Leo Varadkar and the Green Party’s Eamon Ryan will make the final decision this morning but it appears as though restaurants and gastro pubs will be given the green light to reopen from Tuesday.

It’s understood that time limits will be put in place, possibly only allowing occupancy until 10pm with limited numbers at any one time.

However it’s believed that so-called wet pubs will remain closed for the foreseeable future with the likelihood of not reopening this side of 2021.

It’s also understood that town councils may try and implement some sort of queueing system outside shops in an effort to ease footfall around city and town centres.

Travel will be limited to county only until December 18th when everyone can travel across the country again. It’s understood that it’ll be advised to permit up to 6 people from 3 different households for Christmas at any one time for Christmas dinner or staying over. Hugs are not recommended.

Martin will make an announcement later today. What do you think of the new measures set to be released by the government? Tell us your thoughts in the Facebook post and share this with your friends.
