The Scottish Government have confirmed that a case of BSE (mad cow disease) has been discovered on a farm in Aberdeenshire.
In an announcement made on Thursday, a government representative confirmed the discovery of the case.
The Scottish Government say a number of restrictions have been placed at the farm, but the public should not be alarmed as the discovery does not represent a threat to human health.
The disease known as bovine spongiform encephalopathy is a fatal neurodegenerative disease in cattle.
It is believed that the disease could be passed to humans if they eat infected meat.
