The Department of Health has confirmed this morning that they are set to introduce new laws that will see on the spot penalties being issued to retailers who willingly sell cigarettes to minors.
Under the new proposals retailers will also have their details published online of they are caught selling any tobacco based products to minors. The move comes after public consultation process which determined the best possible penalties.
It is believed the proposed legislation will allow for the introduction of minimum suspension periods for retailers convicted of offences.
