Retired surgeon Dr Michael Shine has been sentenced to four years in prison after he was found guilty of sexually abusing boys over a 20 year period.
According to RTÉ News, Shine, 86, from Ballsbridge, was sentenced this afternoon after he was found guilty of 12 charges of indecent assault and one charge of sexual assault.
It is understood that Shine, committed the offences at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth, and at two private clinics in the town.
Shine’s sentencing comes after he was found guilty of all charges earlier this month.
