The new political formation created by Stephen Donnelly, Catherine Murphy, and Róisín Shortall finally has a name: Social Democrats.
Its website, which went online shortly before 10am this morning, expresses that the party’s aim is the creation of “a society where every person has the opportunity to achieve their potential.”
Furthermore, it lists its “core principles” as progress in a thriving economy, equality in civil liberties, transparent democracy and accountability, and sustainability in economics and environmental issues.
Other policies quoted by the party’s website are the reduction of the bankruptcy period to one year (from its current three years), and increasing support for borrowers and mortgage holders in distress.
