There is a lesser known problem in society today that’s affecting predominantly our young adults.
The act of ‘sexting’ is commonplace amongst many young people’s relationships. It involves both parties participating in either recording themselves on their phone having sex, or else sending sexual images or videos to each other.
Whatsapp and Snapchat have both been extensively used to facilitate the new interaction.
However, there’s a seriously dangerous side is this new 21st century foreplay.
‘Revenge Porn’ is when the relationship finishes and one member decides to upload their saved sexting material to the internet in a bid to embarrass their ex.
Legal cases have broken out in America over stopping such material reaching the vast library of the Internet and some people have even paid a ransom to stop it.
What young people don’t realise is that the danger this incurs leaves the victim embarrassed, ashamed, vulnerable, depressed and in some cases not eligible for employment.
People, especially young adults must take into consideration all possible ramifications of their actions. As many celebrities have proven, once something like this goes on the Internet-it’s there for life.
Think first.
