
Over €7.5 million worth of illegal cigarettes and cannabis have been recovered by Revenue inspectors in recent days, reports Breaking News.
22.5 kg of herbal cannabis, estimated to be worth €450,000, and 7,920,000 cigarettes, valued at €7.1 million, which might have resulted in a €5.6 million loss to the Exchequer, were confiscated.
When Revenue officials halted and investigated an unaccompanied container that had unloaded from a ship from Rotterdam, they found the illegal smokes with the help of detection dog Milo, reports Breaking News.
With the help of detection dog Dara, the herbal cannabis was found in vacuum-packed drugs in the luggage of a traveler who had gotten off a flight from Ibiza.
There are still investigations going on.
These seizures are a component of Revenue’s continuous efforts to combat the supply and importation of illicit substances, reports Breaking News.
