Some of Britain’s most iconic Red Post boxes are now painted in black in honour of Britons of African decent and to celebrate Black history month in the UK which takes place in October.

The Royal Mail said the boxes in London, Glasgow, Cardiff and Belfast have been painted to black and embossed with the message “Black History Month 2020”.

The black post-boxes also feature a QR code which can be scanned to bring up a full list of the black Britons who have appeared on special stamps over the years the Daily Mail reported.

In a statement, Peter De Norville, who heads the Royal Mail’s of “diversity and inclusion” programme said:

“Black History Month is a great opportunity to celebrate the contributions that black people have made to this country over many generations.”

Pandering to, and infantilising of, the black community in the US, UK, Ireland and other Western countries has reached new heights this year in the wake of Black Lives Matter riots which have plagued US cities since the death of drug addicted, home invader George Floyd.
