RTE reports “a row broke out” – but it didn’t, a foreign national randomly stabbed an Irishman who was smoking outside Terminal 1

RTE, Ireland’s national broadcaster, reported on Sunday night’s 9pm news that a row broke out between two men at Dublin Airport.

This is not true.

According to multiple sources, including an off-duty Garda, an Irishman aged in his 50s was having a cigarette outside Terminal 1 when he was randomly attacked by a foreign national and stabbed up to 7 times in the neck and stomach.

Gardai and emergency services, including airport police rushed to an incident outside Terminal 1 on Sunday afternoon where a stabbing incident took place.

It’s understood that an Irish man, aged in his 50s, received apparent stab injuries during an incident that gardai have described as a public order incident.

The Irishman allegedly received stab wounds to his neck and stomach and he was rushed to Beaumont Hospital for treatment.

It’s understood that a foreign national, aged in his 50s, was arrested at the scene and remains this morning detained by gardai for questioning and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
