RTE’s Ryan Tubridy lashes out at the media’s coverage of Joe Biden’s Irish visit

Ryan Tubridy has called the coverage of US President Joe Biden’s visit to Ireland “snarky”, reports The Mirror.

The longtime Late Show host, who has published a children’s book about JFK’s visit to Ireland, discussed what he thinks some people are calling “too cool – for-school tech” on Monday before Biden landed in Belfast.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio One, the TV and radio personality explained that while he’d heard the “snarky” coverage of the trip, he thought it was “really good and really useful”, reports The Mirror.

Tubridy said on the radio show: “I’ve heard a lot of snarky coverage about it, I’m not going to be snarky about it. I think they’re really good and really useful. There’s a sort of a slightly snarky, bit too cool-for-school take on it and I wouldn’t be in that camp,” reports The Mirror.

The US President has an eventful day ahead of him. Throughout Thursday, Biden will meet President Michael D. Higgins at Arras a Uchtrain, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar at the Farmley estate and attend a banquet at Dublin Castle.

On Friday he will spend his final days in Mayo, where his family has its roots.

He is expected to visit the Knock Shrine and the Family History Research Unit at the North Mayo Heritage and Genealogy Centre.

His visit will conclude with a speech at St Murdoch’s Cathedral in Ballina before returning to Dublin Airport for his return to the United States, reports The Mirror.
