
Winston Churchill once said “History will be kind to me, for I intend to write it“. Today, acting Taoiseach Enda Kenny, a much lesser statesman by any account, paraphrased such words and said that ‘history will be kind’ to the outgoing Cabinet.
While addressing party acolytes, he also thanked those who would still listen for their service over the last while, a move that many see as parting words before another election.
The issue of water charges has effectively brought down the government, and any incumbent cabinet would do well to scrap them for good.
