Runaway costs of new children’s hospital in Dublin forces budget cuts elsewhere to make up for the shortfall

The rapidly rising costs of the new children’s hospital in Dublin are beginning to bite hard, as the bumbling Government is being forced to delay or cut projects elsewhere to find the money to pay for the facility.

The hospital currently has a price tag of e1.7bn, making it one of the most expensive hospitals ever built anywhere in the world.

The facility has quickly become a money pit whose final cost is likely to be just shy of 2bn.
