With the continued success of the Russian special operation in the country, NATO have announced that they will increase the number of troops at a high level of readiness in response to the alleged threat from Russia from 40,000 to 300,000.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also said the military alliance’s forces in the Baltic states and five other frontline countries would be increased “up to brigade levels” – doubled or trebled to between 3,000 and 5,000 troops The Guardian reported.
This coupled with the partial blockade of the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad by Lithuanian on order from the EU as part of the sanctions against Moscow are likely to dramatically escalate tensions between the West and Russia.
