Russian woman pronounced dead in error passes away from hypothermia in the morgue

A 62-year-old woman wrongly pronounced dead after a drinking binge died from hypothermia in the morgue later on in the day.

The bizarre incident happened in the small Russian town of Vasilyevka.

It is understood that the woman was drinking with relatives when she collapsed, and appeared dead. A local law enforcement officer certified the woman’s death in situ.

A hearse was called and the limp body was transported to the local morgue, where the woman began to move as workers were trying to attach a name tag.

She was rushed to hospital but nothing could be done. The real cause of death was certified as hypothermia.

The case is now being investigated, as the police officer who took it upon himself to pronounce the woman dead should not have done so without consulting with medical professionals. The woman may have survived if she had been given prompt care.
