There was some sad news announced late last night as it was reported that Ireland’s oldest citizen, Nora Canavan from Co Clare, has sadly passed away aged 108.

Nora who celebrated her 108th birthday last March was a mother of seven and a grandmother of 10. The oving mother was also great-grandmother to eight and she had two great-great-grandchildren.

Leading the tributes, local priest Fr Conor Cunningham told reporters that Nora was a woman of great faith.
