Gardai are advising people to be aware of a phishing scam that’s currently doing the rounds around Ireland.
Fraudsters pretending to be Tesco staff are sending mass texts telling people that they have won a ‘package’ as part of a draw, and that they should click on the link provided to claim the prize.
The link leads to a website where people are asked to enter personal information for the ‘delivery’ of the prize, plus bank details.
The scam has been circulating around Ireland and the UK in recent days. If you get such text, simply delete it.
People are advised to share this information with their friends, especially their elderly friends, neighbours or family.
