It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but people need to be very vigilant too as scammers are more rampant than ever.
Gardai are warning bank customers to be vigilant, as scammers are particularly active around the festive season.
Regardless of which banking institution you use, Gardai are warning about several scams currently doing the rounds, usually involving text messages or unsolicited emails that ask for banking details out of the blue, or inform that accounts will be ‘locked out.’
Some scams are sophisticated enough to lead to websites that are virtually indistinguishable from the genuine bank’s site.
