The population at large, and students in particular, have been warned to ignore a purported ‘Summer music festival’, supposedly to be held in Marlay Park in the near future.

The news of such festival have been doing the rounds on social media lately, and it is understood that some 2,700 have already registered as ‘going.’

The festival is supposed to take place on August 17, to coincide with the Leaving Cert results.

Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council has already issued a clear warning today that no such event has been given a licence.

In a statement, it said: “Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has become aware of some social media sites advertising Leaving Cert festivals in Dublin.”

“One such festival was being arranged for Marlay Park. The council has not given, nor will be giving, any authorisation or licence for such events in any of its parks.”

If you have already registered, try to remove your name from the page, and if not, ignore it. It is understood that once you register, you will be contacted by someone asking for money.
