Revenue officals have issued a warning to the public after they were informed of phishing scam that asks people for their banking details.
The warning comes after a number of people received texts and emails asking them to provide their debit/credit card details in order to obtain their tax refund.
In a statement Revenue officals say the scam is targeting those awaiting a refund in particular.
Revenue say they never issue texts/emails in regards to such matters nor would they request private banking details from members of the public.
They added that those who receive such an email should never hand over their details and should ignore the email.
