Management at one of the country’s biggest banks AIB, have confirmed today they will happily compensate over 3,000 mortgage holders who were wrongfully moved from their tracker mortgage.
The bank say they have purposely set aside €190m to cover the cost of the reimbursements. The banks decision comes after fourteen people lost their homes as a result of the error.
The bank was one of 15 institutions who were found guilty of wrongly moving over 20,000 people off their tracker mortgages onto more expensive loans.
