Doctors treating Scarlett Faulkner have reduced all sedation as they wait to see if she will regain consciousness during a critical stage in her fight for life.

The 29-yr-old mother, from Limerick city, remains in a critical condition at Cork University Hospital after suffering severe injuries in a violent roadside attack near Birdhill, Co Tipperary almost two weeks ago, reports The Mirror.

She sustained serious head injuries during the accident, which took place on a busy road on the evening of Saturday, March 21.

A woman and a 16-yr-old girl, both charged in connection with the alleged assault in Birdhill, appeared before the courts via videolink on Wednesday, reports The Mirror.

In an emotional update, her sister Victoria Faulkner said the coming days are vital as the family waits to see if Scarlett regains consciousness.

“The doctors have reduced all the sedation from her and they are waiting to see will she wake up for herself,” Victoria wrote on Facebook, reports The Mirror.

“Please, I am begging you all, keep praying she wakes,” she said, expressing gratitude for the public’s ongoing support and prayers, reports The Mirror.

Scarlett, a member of a Traveller family from Limerick, was seriously assaulted by a group armed with weapons at the side of the R494 in Birdhill.

The motive for the attack remains unclear, and it is believed she may have been targeted by one or more individuals who left her seriously injured at the roadside at around 5.30pm on March 21, reports The Mirror.

An Garda Síochána are exploring several lines of inquiry, including the possibility that Ms Faulkner was in a car that was rammed before she was removed and attacked.

Detectives based at Nenagh Garda Station are continuing their investigation into the incident, reports The Mirror.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Nenagh Garda Station, the Garda Confidential Line, or any Garda station, reports The Mirror.
