Ireland is looking more and more likely to be placed in a full lockdown as the Cabinet is expected to announce their plans today.
It is expected that the country’s schools will be closed until at least the start of February, whilst construction and non essential retail workers will be dealt a major blow later today.
According to reports, the Government are set to close a vast majority of construction projects until the end of the month with exception being the building social and essential public works.
Meanwhile the retail sector will be also put under further restrictions as click and collect services will also be stopped in an effort to reduce footfall around the country.
The latest measures which come after a recent surge in Covid-19 cases are being made in an effort to reduce mobility and therefore reduce the transmission of the virus which has now seen over 5,000 cases reported daily over the past number of days.
