The man is said to be a high profile professional from Dublin, aged in 60’s.
His car was seen on Thursday night near the Cliffs of Moher, the alarm was raised on Friday when staff discovered the car was in the exact same place as it had been the night before.
Doolin members of the Irish Coast Guard have been scouring the shoreline and searching the water for signs of the man.
Gardaí have made some headway in trying to establish who the individual was.
A helicopter from Shannon is assisting the search, which is on going today.
