Former Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly’s preoccupation with water charges is beginning to be borderline obsessive.
He has now said that Taoiseach Enda Kenny should not appoint Independent Alliance TD John Halligan as a Junior Minister unless he pays his water charges.
According to Mr. Kelly, it would be ‘unacceptable’ to appoint Halligan if he is breaking the law by not paying for his water.
Mr. Halligan has said that he will never pay the water charges.
In return, Mr. Kelly said that the Taoiseach must seek guarantee of payment by Mr. Halligan before he is appointed.
