Up to 160,000 post-primary pupils could be staying at home from school on Tuesday, February 4, because of a one-day strike by the Teachers’ Union of Ireland (TUI) in the campaign over pay equality.
It’s understood that around 19,000 TUI members which include lecturers in colleges of further and adult education, institutes of technology and Technological University Dublin, where students could face cancellations for their lectures.
It’s claimed that aorund 1,100 workplaces could be affected.
The strike is aimed at getting the most exposure just before the election.
