Seven terrorists belonging to far left “Anti-fascist” group jailed for 18 years in Russia

A court in Russia has convicted seven “anti-fascist and anarchist” men of terrorism and sentenced them to jail terms of between 6 and 18 years for their role in planning attacks on the 2018 football World Cup and presidential election.

“Set” which is Russia for “Network” as the so-called “anti-fascist” group is calls itself, is akin to the violent, alt-left “Antifa” groups that exist in the West and in 2019 the Russian government declared it an extremist organization, on par with groups such as the Islamic State.

Russia’s domestic intelligence agency, the FSB, said that the seven men who were behind the plots were found with weapons including wo Makarov handguns and grenade parts during searches.

Amnesty International however, has claimed the group doesn’t exist and says that men allege they were tortured to extract confessions.
