With politicians nowhere to be seen, new figures just released by housing charity Focus Ireland reveal that the number of families seeking help from the homeless services reached a record level over the month of July.
In this month, 77 families, including 155 children, became homeless. 70 of said families had never experienced homelessness before.
According to Focus Ireland, a higher crisis points is reached every month.
466 families became homeless during the first seven months of the year. This number is almost as high as the total number for 2014.
Focus Ireland has made an urgent call on the Government to intervene and deem the situation a national emergency.
